Why I do what I do
I believe the climate transition isn’t just about avoiding disaster; it’s an opportunity to improve our current economy and society.
The shift from fossil fuels delivers immediate benefits, from creating local jobs to reducing energy poverty, healthier homes, and vibrant communities.
What I’ve done so far
Over the past two decades, I’ve focused on systemic change through three interconnected roles: advocacy, entrepreneurship, and activism.

Advocacy — public speaking
As one of Al Gore's first climate ambassadors, I have delivered hundreds of talks across Europe and beyond, highlighting the benefits of a fossil-free economy. I also contribute to the dialogue through media appearances and pieces on climate and decarbonization strategy.

Entrepreneurship — Futureproofed
I founded and led Futureproofed, a SaaS platform and advisory for building sustainability roadmaps. It helps cities and companies decarbonize while saving costs. In 2022, Futureproofed was acquired by Sweco.

Activism — Klimaatzaak
I initiated and led Belgium’s Klimaatzaak, the world’s largest climate lawsuit. Mobilizing 70.000 citizens, we achieved a court-mandated 55% emissions reduction target by 2030, setting a legal precedent across Europe. Watch my TEDx talk on ‘Beyond activism — law as a climate tool’.

Advisory — Helios Foundation
As part of the advisory board, I help guide the Helios Foundation in its mission to decarbonize Belgium’s economy. Helios strategically funds innovative solutions and bridges financing gaps by fostering collaboration between academia, industry, and policymakers. Its twin focus on mental health and carbon neutrality reflects the interconnected challenges of creating a sustainable future.

A pause to reflect and imagine what’s next.
I’m now taking a pause— some time to reflect, recharge, and think deeply about the future. After more than two decades of advocacy, entrepreneurship, and activism, I'm taking this time to reconnect with my passions and consider where I can make the most significant contribution.
This is about:
Learning: exploring new ideas, connecting widely and diving into the complexities of systemic change.
Recalibration: identifying where my skills and experience can best address pressing challenges.
Enjoyment: spending time with loved ones and embracing life through music, culture, kitesurfing, running, snowboarding, biking, and travel.
It's a chance to step back and prepare for whatever comes next.
